about
Chicago-based emotionally charged rock band Frontega recently dropped their debut self-titled album. Consisting of Ryan Sobie, Jeremy Adams, Zach Swearingen, [Garrett Johnson], and Brannon Duffin, the band taps into influences such as Deftones, Title Fight, Balance and Composure, and Blue Öyster Cult. With emotive vocals, driving drums, and sweeping guitar, Frontega’s album provides an impressive, full sound. “Jaguar/Raptor” is altogether contemplative and cathartic. Starting out with a steady pace, the song builds into an unrestrictive sound. Soft, intentional vocals evolve into impassioned vocal cries, which is mirrored instrumentally. “Return Address” feels light and airy, the guitar and drums providing a melodic feel. The vocals meander throughout, like someone telling a story. “screw the HOA, i wanna play tennis” picks up the pace, featuring sweeping guitar and heavy drum fills. Frontega has outdone themselves with this debut album, and we look forward to their future releases. – InAlternative Around that time, they had been performing songs off of their 2023 self-titled album Frontega, where their songs ‘Garden(s)’ & ‘screw the HOA, i wanna play tennis’ became permanent additions to my playlist. Over the years, we’ve all become transformative. Our lives have changed, our everything’s had changed. So much time had passed. I asked Frontega about their growth over the last two years and how this journey has been for them since then. – Waverly Cayo Ryan Sobie said. “It is so cool to see that we now have these little pockets of people all around the world who listen to Frontega. We get messages from so many different people about how our music has affected them, how it’s transformed them.” – Waverly Cayo …so many listeners have become incredibly passionate and outspoken about Frontega’s music, whether online, or at shows — Frontega is making waves in communities that have been looking for something like this.
